I am proud that FORETHOUGHT.net has been selected to be the Internet Service Provider for the Lake County School District, in Leadville, Colorado. We have been working to develop our market in Leadville and surrounding areas – including in Leadville, at nearby Red Cliff, Colorado. In this project, the Lake Couunty School District will not only receive Gigabit Fiber Internet five times faster than their previous provider at a fraction of the cost – but, they saved so much money that they were able to additionally invest in a new fiber network that will connect several other school sites together on a private, dark fiber WAN. We look forward to serving Lake County Schools, and, continuing to bring modern, gigabit fiber Internet to Leadville. http://www.lakecountyschools.net/
I am proud that FORETHOUGHT.net has been selected to be the Internet Service Provider for the Durango 9-R Schools. This builds on a long relationship we have had with 9-R via our subsidiary, Brainstorm Internet, based in beautiful Durango, Colorado. This was made possible through the incredible hard work my team has been doing over the past several years to completely rebuild and upgrade our regional backbone network in Western Colorado. Our backbone is redundant, fast, and utilizes state of the art router technology including MPLS. https://www.durangoschools.org/
Unfortunately, more and more, we are seeing resistance by property management companies for both residential and commercial property managers to deny their tenants access to the telecommunications provider of their choice. While we understand that property managers are often overworked, and don’t have a vested direct interest in the telecom business, the increasing refusal to work with telecoms is causing real problems for businesses like our customers. Just earlier this week, a property manager flat-out told us, and one of our customers (and their tenant) that “There’s enough fiber in here, use one of those”, denying their tenant their choice. We recommend that businesses seeking new office space, demand the inclusion of language along these lines into any lease agreement: “Landlord shall, so long as there is no direct cost to landlord, allow and facilitate Tenant to bring in the telecommunications provider of their choice.” It is I think often… read more →

FORETHOUGHT.net is proud to announce that we have installed a direct dark fiber connection into the Netflix cache located in South Denver, and have turned up a direct network interconnection with Netflix. This connection provides FORETHOUGHT.net customers the shortest path from Netflix to the end user – ensuring the best quality video experience. This investment by FORETHOUGHT.net avoids congested Internet exchange points, reduces delay in transmissions, and reduces the chance for packet loss which causes annoying “rebuffering” interruptions in your Internet video experience. FORETHOUGHT.net is committed to the highest quality Internet connectivity for its customers in Colorado and New Mexico. We achieve this goal by directly interconnecting our customers to content networks, bypassing the public Internet. FORETHOUGHT.net also peers directly with Google, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo – all on dedicated, high speed fiber optic infrastructure.
Apparently CenturyLink is going to try out implementing bandwidth caps and usage charges for its Internet services. What do you all think of that? https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20160211/09480933576/centurylink-follows-comcasts-lead-to-start-charging-broadband-overage-fees.shtml
